Everything's Fine
03:56
|
|||
wo-wo-wo-wo!
Won't tomorrow come
Sooner than the night
Can I see, I want to see
With my surfboard eyes
Everything's fine
Everything's fine
Surfing in the sunshine
Makes everything fine
I'm undecided, a bit misguided
In this rolling wave that's been provided
Which is up, which is down, going round and round
Searching for breath before I drown
Everything's fine
Everything's fine
Surfing in the sunshine
Makes everything fine
Now it's the waves that are rolling in
Feel the passion and the power begin
Everything that's hidden, everything that's forbidden
In the depths of the waves we're forgiven
Everything's fine
Everything's fine
Surfing in the sunshine
Makes everything fine
Now I'm a slave to the wave and not the wage!
All my rage has passed I've been unmasked
All the bills and the tax, and the bureaucratic crap
Is far away
Everything's fine
Everything's fine
Surfing in the sunshine
Makes everything fine

Honest Places
04:12
|
|||
Could we put our heads down in honest places
When the earth is just tarmac and parking spaces
For hotels and restaurants
And the only birds are seagulls
Feeding off of giant landfills
So tall the peaks have names
And accountancy and pole-dancing
Are in the Olympic games
As our televisions grew bigger
They went and shrank our brains
Where vanity is a virtue, where what you know can hurt you
Where train station platforms are littered with terrorist bombs
Disguised as kid's lunch boxes, disguised as every other song
That isn't on the radio, that isn't on TV
That lift you over backwards, trip you up so you can see
A sky that is so dense and black
And you just think of what you should get to eat
So you drive to some place where you get dead animals real cheap
And maybe your kids would be surprised to see a tree
Inside of a museum amongst dead birds and chimpanzees
In glass cases, and blue skies, green grass, clean air & liberty
And how they'll often wonder; is wondering good for me?
And they'll swim in oily waters every summer in the sea
And tell you how your goddamn eggs are too salty
& you'll reminisce about when eggs came from chickens
And say these ones are no good
But you'll still slap their wrists for not eating all their food
And the alarm goes off again
So you duck down on the floor
Throw your knees into your chest
Pray if it hits it hits next door
Oh no, you never liked him anyway
Because he has French relatives
In fact he looks a little strange
And shops in a different supermarket
Your sister she called yesterday
But you never returned her call
Sometimes she thinks you don't think of her at all...
If we ever put our heads down for a second in this mess
And considered all the steps that were leading up to this
We'd measure out the distance between two points that we think were best
And wish we'd put our heads down in honest places for a rest.

True Words
03:42
|
|||
True words don't make the best for you
20 years of schooling and they put you on the dole queue...
True words are spoken by a small demographic
But it's not true words that are problematic
It's in the interest of human nature
To breed like fucking flies
So how are you earning a living in this current economic climate
When you haven't really tried yet
I find myself thinking more often than not
The cards that you're dealt are the cards that you've got
And that life is unfortunate in that way
But poker analogies are unfair
And they say; look at the beast! see how he treats
His equals, his lessers, his betters, at least
We're not shitting in a hole in the ground
Or scratching around in the dirt
Now the dirt's paved over and in wildlife enclosures called cities
Roams a new kind of beast
Watch how he feeds, don't tap on the glass please
Given half a chance he'll take your legs off at the knees
Through an arduous and complex bureaucratic process
Approved by their government as progress
By the time you fill the forms to contest
They've taken everything else right on up to your neck
True words don't make the best for you
20 years of schooling and they put you on the dole queue
Tell me son what are you gonna do
I tell you now I just wanna earn me some truth
But it's hard to do...
Truth don't buy bread & you can't take it home to bed with you
